FAQ
What non-residents ask us most
Short answers, and where the answer is “it depends”, we say what it depends on.
Do I need to be in the United States?
No. Neither to form the company, nor to own it, nor to manage it. A U.S. address is required for the registered agent, which is one of the things we provide.
Do I need an SSN?
No for the company, no for the EIN. An ITIN may be needed for some personal tax filings, which is why we offer it separately.
Which state should I choose?
It depends on where you will actually operate, what you sell, and whether you want low annual cost or established case law. The questionnaire asks what changes the answer.
Will I get a bank account?
We prepare and introduce your application to a partner. The decision belongs to the bank, and no serious provider can promise otherwise.
How long does it take?
State filing takes the number of business days shown on the comparison page. The EIN is the slow part for non-residents : weeks, not days.
Can I change the company name later?
Before payment, freely. Once registered, it means filing an amendment with the state, with its own fee and delay : so we handle it as a change request rather than an edit.
